Creating Charge Presets in Revela
Charges are applied to tenant ledgers throughout the tenant lifecycle for items such as application fees, lease charges, incidental items, or move-out costs. Creating charge presets in Revela allows users to quickly and consistently add these common invoices to tenant ledgers.
To add a new charge preset, navigate to Setup > Configurations and select the Portfolio configuration the new charge preset will be added to. Under the “Charges” section of Configurations, select the Add Charge Preset button.
Enter the required details of the charge, including:
- Type - Indicates the stage of the tenant lifecycle in which the charge will be used. There are four options to choose from:
- Application - The default amount charged during the application process (e.g. the application fee paid after an application is submitted).
- Lease - A charge that can be used when creating recurring or one-time charges within a lease charge schedule.
- Incidental - Miscellaneous or one-time charges that can be added directly to a tenant’s ledger from their profile.
- Move Out - A charge that can be added when moving a tenant out of a unit.
- Name - This is the name of the charge that will appear on the tenant ledger.
- Amount - This is a predetermined amount which can be used to streamline the process. If there is no predetermined amount, leave this as $0.00.
- Account - The GL Code to which this charge should be applied.
- Net D - The number of days until the charge is due.
- Late Fees - The late fee preset that should be applied if this charge is unpaid.

Once the required details have been finalized, click Create to finalize your charge preset.
Charge presets can be imported if you have a large number of charge presets that need to be generated. Click on Import Charge Presets, and you’ll be able to download a template to plug your preset data into, then upload. The sample file will provide an example dataset for clarity regarding the required format of the data for import.
